Soup recipes has had a long history
in the kitchen, and many soup recipes use a lot of
fat to bring out the flavors. However, you can significantly
cut down on the fat in your soups, and not lose any
taste.
It's quite simple to cook low fat soup
recipes. (Click
here for top 10 tips on fat reduction.)From my
cooking experience, I would say that most Chinese
soup recipes use very little or no fat, and they taste
just as good. Contrary to western tradition, the Chinese
usually serve their soups last during a meal instead
at the start. These Chinese soup recipes are light
tasting and healthy. The purpose of serving these
light soups at the end of an meal is to cleanse your
mouth of all the heavy and oily foods we just ate
- leaving you refreshed.
Ginger is heavily used in Chinese soup
recipes. It's usually sliced or diced, and added into
the soups. Ginger not only brings out the taste in
the soups, it's also good for you health. (Ginger
and garlic go hand in hand as some of the most beneficial
ingredients you can use in your cooking recipes to
improve health.)
Obviously, the quickest way to cut down
on fat from your soup recipes is to use less or no
meat. Or if you insisted on using meat, trim away
all the visible fat and skin. Also, using white meats
such as chicken and fish instead of red meats (pork,
beef) will also significantly cut down the fat in
your soup recipes.
Did you know: many types of fish and
seafood contain less than 1 gram of fat per 100g (4oz).
You can also prepare all vegetarian
soup recipes. Using only vegetables, your soups can
still taste delicious. I prefer soup recipes that
use no meat - although I'm not a vegetarian. You can
either start the soup with a vegetable soup stock, or just plain water. You
could use all types of veggies in your soup recipes
such as: squash, asparagus, carrots, winter melon,
peas, cucumber, and much much more.
If you're lazy like me, maybe consider
using pre-made broth mixes. They're inexpensive, and
save you a lot of time. To make your soup recipes
more interesting, and to spice things up, consider
using various types of spices and seasonings such
as: ginger, white pepper, black pepper, basil, lemon
grass, and much more.
So you see, when cooking soup recipes,
you DON'T need to use a lot of fat, or even any at
all! You can still prepare healthy soups that taste
fantastic. Click
